My school came to me with a national-day campaign and three days to deliver it. Saying no would have been sensible.
Eid Al Etihad is the UAE's national day, marking the unification of the seven emirates. My school approached me with a vision for it and a deadline three days out — planning, shooting, lighting and the full edit, all inside that.
Every stage was a race, and the schedule left no room for a second attempt at anything. It's the job that taught me most about planning a shoot properly beforehand, because there was simply no time to work it out on the day.
It went out on time. That still feels like the achievement more than any single frame in it.
