A man dances around his flat getting ready for a date, and wrecks the planet a little bit on the way out. A serious point, made without being po-faced about it.
A man is getting ready for a date and he's delighted about it — dancing around the flat, tearing through his routine without a second thought. In all that energy he leaves a trail behind him: water running, the stove still on, waste everywhere. What opens as a joyful, silly few minutes turns into something about the cost of habits nobody thinks twice about.
The environmental message was the whole reason for making it, but a film that wags its finger gets switched off. Putting it inside something genuinely funny meant the point landed on people who'd never sit through the earnest version.
It's the most ambitious thing I'd attempted at that stage — the choreography alone took more planning than everything I'd shot before it combined.
