The job

A film for Rolls-Royce, shot by Vance on a single stretch of road in the desert outside Dubai. He got it the way most of the good ones happen — someone who had seen his work put his name forward. No pitch deck involved, which we are told is not how the industry is supposed to work.

The light

Everything was built around sunset. A Spectre is essentially a mirror on wheels, so the whole film lives or dies on what you point it at: sun too high and the paint blows out, too low and the car sinks into the road. The usable window was about forty minutes.

The location did the rest of the work. One lane, no traffic, and nothing on either side willing to compete with the car for attention.

Honestly

It remains the most expensive object anyone at Aera has been handed the keys to the vicinity of, and we would like that on the record before someone checks.
